Just
for Kids - Assault Response & Care Centre
Being a kid can be hard. Adults don’t
always listen to you. If you or someone you know is being hurt, talk
to an adult you trust about what is happening. Your body belongs to
you and nobody has the right to touch you or make you feel
uncomfortable. Trust your feelings as to what is right and what is
wrong and if someone is treating you badly or hurting you then talk
to someone you can trust. If nothing happens after talking to that
person just keep talking until someone listens. It is never your
fault and if someone is being hurt it is not the kind of secret you
want to keep.
Ways to say "NO"
You have the right to say "NO".
If someone tries to make you do anything that makes you feel
uncomfortable or afraid here are some ways to say
NO:
"STOP"
"I’m not comfortable with you doing that"
"I want you to stop"
"DON’T"
Yell for help
Saying NO doesn’t always involve the word
NO you can also use
body language to tell someone you want them to stop.
Run away
Push them away
Hit them
Protect yourself in any way you can
